Take up the opportunity to ride on the very same track that’s home to New Zealand’s high performance track cyclists – an experience to be ticked off the bucket list – anyone can have a go (as long as you are over 135cm!). They offer a one hour, track based session which provides you with basic knowledge on how to ride a track bike and the opportunity to experience riding on the velodrome. www.avantidrome.co.nz

Kayak down a truly beautiful section of the Waikato River, to the Pokaiwhenua stream and into the glow-worm canyon. Draped with native ferns, the canyon offers a true slice of New Zealand beauty, and as the light fades away the unique incandescence of the glow-worms start to shine from the surrounding walls. After a quick glass of some of New Zealand’s finest wines (hot drink for the kids) complimented with some tasty cheeses had over the warmth of a campfire, it’s back in the boats, as we drift slowly down stream using only the light from the glow-worms.

Hobbiton Exhibition at Inspirit Studio & Gallery

A special exhibition of original paintings of Hobbiton by Kristen Olson Stone will be on show at Inspirit Studio & Gallery during the Fieldays. Inspirit is a spacious contemporary art gallery and sculpture garden set in a stunning rural location in Tamahere a few minutes drive from Cambridge. Inspirit was established in 2007 by Jenny Scown who is the director and also a contributing photographic artist. The purpose built gallery exhibits a diverse range of artistic mediums. Photography, painting, indoor & outdoor sculpture, glass, jewellery, ceramics, functional art, wearable art, print making and mixed media. Glide Time at the Gaslight
