Family owned, Takapoto Estate, is a 600 acre property that sits on three kilometres of water front on Lake Karapiro. What began as a dream to reconnect with family and heritage, has transformed into an impassioned journey to create a living sanctuary and a family legacy. The restoration of the land is the foundation of the project and paramount to its success.
Take a tour through their Crossing Point Vineyard at the Estate, followed by a wine tasting.
Takapoto Head Winemaker Andy Anderson was awarded the world’s best Pinot Noir trophy at London’s prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) two years running. His wines won back-to-back in 2017 for the 2012 Takapoto Bannockburn Single Vineyard Pinot Noir and in 2018 for the Takapoto Gibbston Valley. 2017 was a truly monumental year for Andy and Takapoto wines – not only did he take out best Pinot Noir honour but he added the New Zealand Producer of the Year trophy and the outstanding Gold Medal for the 2014 vintage of the Takapoto Pinot Noir.
The Tour is conducted by Assistant Winemaker Alex Coldicutt and is FREE – spaces are limited to 12 people.
