Cambridge has three supermarkets that supply a full range of foods, including in-shopping cambridge-isitestore bakery, deli and butchery sections.

The largest, in terms of floor space, is Countdown which is located on the corner of Queen and Empire Streets.

It's one of 160 owned by Progressive Enterprises, of Australia. Countdown operates a loyalty card scheme called Onecard.

New World, owned by New Zealand company Foodstuffs, is located in Anzac Street. Foodstuffs also own the Pak 'n Save supermarket chain, the nearest of which is in Te Awamutu, about 20 minutes' drive from Cambridge. New World participates in the Fly Buys loyalty card scheme.

Fresh Choice opened in Leamington in 2012 and is locally owned and operated, giving the residents of Leamington and surrounding areas the convenience of a modern supermarket.
