Education Schools

Cambridge families have 14 schools to choose from, ranging from small rural schools with fewer than 50 students to St Peter's School with more than 1,000 students on its roll.

Williams St, founded in 1955 and has more than 300 pupils on its roll.

Cambridge Primary School
Corner of Duke and Wilson St, founded in 1866, this school is located in one of Cambridge's oldest buildings.

Goodwood School
A small rural school in Fencourt Rd, about 5.5kms from Cambridge, founded in 1902.

Hautapu School
Corner of Hautapu and Forrest Rds, founded in 1878 and has about 200 pupils.(Year 1 - 8)

Hora Hora School
A small rural school at 1798 Maungatautari Road, about 25.5kms from Cambridge. Founded in 1909, the roll fluctuates between 40 and 70 pupils.

Kaipaki School
Rural school in Kaipaki Rd, about 5kms from Cambridge. Founded in 1876 (as Pukerimu School). (Year 1 - 8)

Karapiro School
This small rural school at 705 State Highway One has been teaching local children for more than 100 years.

Leamington School
Lamb Rd, Leamington, founded in 1880 and caters for 350-370 pupils.

Roto-o-Rangi School
A rural school at 5 Kairangi Road, 16kms from Cambridge, founded in 1905.

St Peter's Catholic School
A Christian school close to the centre of town, at 22 Anzac St.(Year 1 - 8)

Te Miro School
A rural school, set in bush surroundings, at 443 Te Miro Rd, about 16kms from Cambridge.

There are four schools that cater for years 7 and above (ages 10 and older):

Cambridge Middle School
Located in Clare Street, this is one of only seven Middle Schools in New Zealand (catering for students in years 7-10).

Hautapu School and St Peter's Catholic School (see above) also cater for children beyond year 6.

Cambridge High School
Located at 25 Swayne Rd, and founded in 1883, CHS is a co-educational state secondary school, catering from students who live in the town, its surrounding rural areas and some international students. Caters for years 7-13.

St Peter's School
Located at 1716 Cambridge Rd, State Highway 1, and founded in 1936. This is an independent Anglican co-educational day and boarding secondary school, catering for more than 1,000 students on more than 200 hectares of grounds a few minutes drive from Cambridge. Caters for years 7-13.
