Bihoro

In 1994 a relationship was founded between Bihoro, Japan and Cambridge.
Over the period of three years a friendship developed that was strengthened when the sister city agreement was signed in 1997. The affiliation promotes exchanges in economy, tourism, culture and education. The beautiful sights and people of Bihoro mirror much of the town of Cambridge.

Visit the Japanese garden at the Waipa District Council located on Wilson street which was presented tot he citizens of Cambridge by the Cambridge Community Board, Bihoro in Japan and the Bihoro Frienship Society in recognition of the unique relationship the two communities have.

The Bihoro-Cambridge sister-city relationship is treasured by all who have taken part in the exchanges.

Le Quesnoy

Cambridge has the privelege of being one of the few towns in New Zealand to have a sister city in France. The Sister City agreement between Le Quesnoy and Cambridge was signed in 2000 by the then mayor, John Hewitt and links between the two towns have continued to grow.

Le Quesnoy is a very special town in France, as it was liberated by new Zealand soldiers in 1918 at the end of WW1. They treasure their link with Cambridge.

Take a look at the street named after this French town here in Cambridge, Le Quesnoy Place can be found on the fright hand side of Victoria Street before crossing Victoria Bridge.

Also of significance are the stained galss window in St Andrews Church depicting the liberation of Le Quesnoy and Gallipoli
