  1. Book your accommodation
  2. Cambridge is only a 17–minute drive from Mystery Creek, making it easy to get to and from Equidays, and putting you in the middle of Waikato's rural heartland.

Our town has eight motels and about 75 bed and breakfasts, ensuring you'll get a good night's sleep away from home.

  1.   Enjoy your evenings

Cambridge has a range of bars, cafes and restaurants with something to suit everyone. For food, we've got everything from takeaways to stylish restaurants.

  1.   Extend your stay

Why not come early or add a couple more nights to your stay? You can turn your Equidays visit into a mini–break, taking advantage of the many attractions and things to do within easy range of Cambridge.

  1.   Find a hobbit

Cambridge is just 21.5km or an 18 minute drive from the world famous Hobbiton where you can enjoy a tour of where Sir Peter Jackson filmed parts of his Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies.

  1.   Get in a round of golf

With more than 40 courses within an hour of Cambridge, you'll be spoilt for choice. You can choose a round at one of the North Island's premier courses, such as Hamilton's St Andrew's, or dodge the sheep while you yarn with locals at a country course such as Hukanui.

  1.   Check out nature

Go for a ramble at nearby Maungatautari mountain, a fenced nature reserve, or the Maungakawa Scenic Reserve. More details and directions are at www.cambridge.co.nz.

  1.   Get on the water

With Lake Karapiro and the mighty Waikato River on your doorstep, there are plenty of activities to choose from.Maungatautari-resized

You can water ski, row or paddle in a canoe or kayak. Or you can fish for trout in the lake or nearby streams, or take a jet boat up the river.

  1. Sanctuary Mountain

The mature native forest at Maungatautari is home to some of our country's rarest native birds. With the help of 47km of predator–proof fencing, Sanctuary Mountain has 3,400 hectares of pest–free mountain reserve, enabling the re–introduction of native birds and protection of endangered species.

When is it?

The next Equidays will be staged between Friday October 17 and Sunday October 19, 2014.

What is it?

Equidays is held at the 113–hectare Mystery Creek Events Centre every spring.

Thousands of horse lovers experience three days and two nights of equine–related demonstrations, exhibitions, activities and retail sites.

Endorsed by Equestrian Sports New Zealand and famous Cambridge horse breeder Sir Patrick Hogan, Equidays is developed by the not–for–profit National Fieldays Society, owners of Mystery Creek Events Centre.

Highlights this year include Show Hunter and Jumping clinics given by multi–talented US rider and coach Bernie Traurig, while US–based rider and horse trainer Warwick Schiller will give Reining and Performance Horsemanship clinics.
